Workshops

I offer a range of workshop options, which I personally deliver via on-line webinars. You can learn in the comfort of your own home and save on travelling time and costs. This method is also Covid-19 safe.

Workshops are offered as either individual or group learning experiences, for those of you that have formed study groups. I am happy to be flexible and discuss options with you. Either email me at info@policeexamsuccess4u.co.uk or call me on 07813 085788 to discuss your needs.

Let’s get to the important detail.
How I can help you?

R

Has anyone ever taught you how to learn?

When officers ask for my help to get them through their exams, it’s usually when they are mid-way through their studying schedule or the exam is imminent.  Their progress is not going to plan, or they never even had a plan and panic starts to set in.

Many often feel frustrated and overwhelmed, drowning in information, on the verge of giving up.  They have struggled for months, studying for hours on end and cannot retain the information. They plan to take annual leave before the exam for some last-minute cramming, as they believe it is the only way they can remember the material. When they attempt multiple choice questions they often perform inconsistently or poorly.

Consultations usually reveal candidates are reading Blackstone’s manuals for 3 to 5 hours at a time, engaging in copious note taking and the relentless use of highlighter pens.  Sound familiar?  It’s what most people do and it does not work.  There are so many other ways to learn that are far more effective and will take up much less of your valuable time.

My experience in training police officers to pass exams for the last 2 decades has informed me there are 5 key areas you need to get right to achieve success.

1

You need to be organised and know how to concentrate.

I will teach you how to organise your learning and boost your concentration skills.

2

You need to improve your knowledge of study techniques and identify which ones meet your individual learning needs. Once you know that, you need to understand how to use them.  Basically, you need to learn how to learn.

I will teach you this.

3

Armed with your knowledge of how to learn you dramatically improve your ability to develop and assimilate knowledge and understanding of the material in the syllabus.

This is where you put the effort in and learn in a more effective, productive, efficient and timely way.

4

Perhaps the most crucial area. You need an understanding of multiple-choice exam techniques so you can confidently apply your knowledge and understanding to the final exam, without falling into the many potential pitfalls that cause so many to fail.

I will teach you this

5

You need a network of peer support to form study groups, discuss legislation, questions and generally support each other.

When you invest in one of my Gold workshops, I will give you free access to my fortnightly drop-in clinics on zoom for ongoing support and the opportunity of networking with colleagues.

Provide you with a suggested study timetable. This does not just simply follow the order of the subjects in the manuals. For example, criminal damage is listed after theft in the manuals. However, you need to understand criminal damage before you can fully understand and answer questions on burglary under Section 9 (1) (a) Theft Act 1968.

The Gold Workshops are offered as either a group or individual learning experience.

Group sessions suit those that like to learn in an environment with others.

Individual sessions are more beneficial if you feel more comfortable learning on a one to one basis. It may also benefit people who have specific individual learning needs, such as dyslexia. The session duration times for individual learning is similar to group workshops.
